I was backing up some files when I came across some picture we took during all those hours of Skype. I do not know how people dated long distance before technology advanced to video chat. Two years.. Two long years before we got married we spent almost every single day on Skype. That is how we got to know each other.

Long distance dating is a beautiful thing. It is definitely not for everyone. For us it was perfect. Not that every moment was perfect, of course we had our issues, fights, frustrating moments centered around long distance dating, but we were forced to talk it out and sometimes that meant staying up WAY to late! Even with all the frustrating moments, I am thankful for how our relationship started.
Well, turns out Skype didn't end when we got married as I thought it would - getting a job in Lubbock and living out our first year perfectly with birds singing, animals prancing around happily, and all those things Fairy tales include. No, unlike most newly married couples in this world, we did not live together full time our first year. Unfortunately I did not get a job in Lubbock therefore had to live in Snyder, which was an hour and a half away from Lubbock... I would stay with his parents most of the week and commute a few days a week. Our Skype dates turned to Facetime dates because I finally caught up with the awesome iPhone phenomenon. Maybe that is why we find ourselves with a lot of quiet time now - because we spent three solid years talking all day and night, either by text, on the phone, or Skype/Facetime.
After two years before marriage and first year of marriage, I was determine I was NOT going to do that again! I had had enough! Turns out this summer, yet again, we will be living a part for a few weeks because he has an internship in Lubbock while I finish up my school year, being in Amarillo for a week of training for my job, and traveling to Houston for a week. Here we go again, Facetime dates again...
... but things could be worse, so I will be thankful for what our life is like now and try to remember it is all a part of our story...
